Simple Atime Question

We have a FreeNas Mini and have "atime" enabled.

We are getting bad performance. The Mini is in production with a single pool and two shares under it.

Our macs connect via AFP and when browsing the files in Finder it is very slow.

I just want to know if it is safe to change the atime setting on 'design' to off instead of on without risking data loss? We think atime is causing the performance issue.

Yes, turning atime off is safe to data integrity. Hopefully it also fixes your speed issue :)

Thank you for the reply. It may have improved. But a remote user coming through the VPN gets timeout errors with trying to upload anything over 10MB. A Windows 2012 server file share adjacent to the Mini on the network this use can upload 100MB with no problems. Baffled.
