Hi.
My whole system acts strange, and I'm starting to think if there is a USB stick problem. I used this install --> alternative installs/usbimage from the freenas website.

One of the problems is that cifs tends to stop working. Network browsign for instance stops showing the freenas server. Accounts stop working, like acces denied eventhough I have the right password (the console says name missmatch ip...). And som others realy odd fails. It works for a while and when I change something or even sometimes when I create a new folder, something just stops working.

Can it be due to flaw usbstick or can it be that I only have a 4gb. Is the usbimage the right way to install freenas ?

Thanx for any thoughts.

At this point it could be almost anything (you didn't post enough information to diagnose the problem). USB sticks are cheap. If you think it might be a problem, then replace it. Install FreeNAS using instructions here: http://doc.freenas.org/index.php/Burning_an_IMG_File

If the problem persists after switching to fresh USB stick. You should post the following:
  • version of FreeNAS
  • errors reported in /var/log/messages, /var/log/samba4/log.nmbd, /var/log/samba4/log.smbd [perhaps put the last 100 lines into a text file and attach it to your post. 3 separate files].
I also noticed that you are doing raidz1. You probably don't want to do that if you value your data. Go with raidz2 or mirrors.
