I have just build a new system comprising off a HP ML10V2, 32gb ecc, 1221 v3 cpu, 32gb flashdrive, 2 x 120gb samsung ssd, m1105 flashed to IT, Chenbro CK12804 expander, and a backplane from a SuperChassis 933T-R760B.

Backplane is connected via sff-8087 to sata. I have four of these connected to the expander and 8087-8087 to the internal m1105.

Just installed freenas 10 lastest nightly and freenas gui is not seeing hds/controller.

camcontrol devlist shows ACHI SGPIO Enclosure 1.00 0001> at scbus7 target 0 lun o (pass2,sec0)

this is the first time I have used the backplane.

It's a SAS/Sata backplane. Did you use the right cable? You need an sff-8087 breakout, not reverse breakout?

Verify that the first four ports work by connecting them with straight cables to your mobos Sata ports.

Verify that the first four ports work with your hba by using just one sff 8087 - Sata cable.

Perhaps the sff-8087 to 8087 cable is faulty. Have you verified that works? I ordered four cheap ones and all were faulty (actually they weren't even designed to work)

Make sure all cable runs are under the sata limit of 1m.
