SAMBA/SMB/CIFS: How to limit login attempts?

Hi all,
since my CIFS shares are Internet-accessible and I can't rely on IPs filter, I'd like Samba to force a 5 seconds delay before failed authentication attempts.

How?

I could be mistaken, but using CIFS over the internet is a big security no-no. You're better off using a ssh tunnel, in which case they'd have to guess your ssh password first.
