Hi everyone:
I've been using FreeNAS 8 since the betas. That being said, I'm not a linux pro.

My configuration has a single main drive, (internal) and a second external drive that I mirror to.

For a variety of reasons, I have been doing the mirroring to the second drive with RSync through the SSH command line. I don't run an RSync server, I just log in every few days and mirror the drive manually using the RSync command at the command line.

At this point, I don't really want to switch to a mirrored raid.

Is there a way to use the RSync service in the GUI to mirror the drives automatically? Or would it be better to just add the RSync command as a cron job in the gui?

Thanks for your help.

Good thing you're not a Linux pro as this is FreeBSD.

You're going to have more control over the specifics of an rsync job from the cron job, and that'd be my suggestion.... especially if you already have a command line that does exactly what you want from the shell prompt. Why mess around?

LOL - some things work out, as you say, re: linux/FreeBSD.

Thanks for the advice. I'll set it up as a cron job, then.

Thanks,
