hi, im about to embark on a road of building a storage cluster for my lab at work and i wonder if i can use a few of these servers for this:

1. HW:

2. Is this a ok HW plattform to base a Truenas installation on?
3. Is it possible to use Truenas as a scaleout solution, incase i have 4 of these servers and bundle them together in a virtual Filesystem?

Assuming the HBA is able to flash into IT mode, the rest of the hardware looks reasonable to me.

If you mean TrueNAS SCALE when it is released... perhaps that will work. It depends on exactly what you mean by bundle. Running glusterfs?

See here for notes about the alpha release currently a work in progress:

Im not sure that LSI SAS3008 can be set to IT mode as the older siblings can.
Looks like its set to JBOD mode today as the Vendor used all 36 drives in a JBOD mode before..
