So, what I am looking for/need help with is just starting from scratch with users and groups. Deleting all references to any human created user and group so I can start over and fix the mismatches. I cannot do this from the WebUI account tab because some mismatch has occurred that always keeps a reference to the old groups.

I filed this bug which describes my problem in my detail. https://redmine.ixsystems.com/issues/28052

I am just a little impatient and as opposed to waiting for a fix I just want a quick solution so I can start using this machine again.

Thanks

@anodos ? I thought you might be able to help out on this one. I think {HD} just wants a work around if this really is a bug.

So this is only solved from the perspective of I have what I want. It has not been solved from the perspective of 'preventing it from happening again'.

I went through and deleted all the human-added users and groups from the webUI. I then using ssh deleted all the lingering users using "pdbedit -x -u 'username'". I deleted all the users listed in "pdbedit -Lv" EXCEPT root.

I then went and deleted all the mappings listed in "net groupmap list" using "net groupmap delete ntgroup='SID'".

Then I went back to the GUI and everything seems to be working like expected.

p.s. I found this OLD bug report that helped me: https://redmine.ixsystems.com/issues/10601.pdf
