I've been getting these e-mails randomly for many months now - really unsure why.

Tried changing the DDNS provider to noip.com from the asuscomm.com (that came free with my ac87 routers) without any improvements.

I believe it will be an issue now as I have just added about 200GB of data on one of my datasets and I believe the SSH pipe breaks before the transfer is complete with my 10MBit upload speed as it would need to be 'open' for almost 48h.

My current networking setup:
Freenas @ studio -> 24port managed switch -> asus rt-ac87 router -> Linksys WRT120N -> 20/10mbit connection -> HOME 60/30mbit connection -> asys rt-ac87 router -> 8port unmanaged gbit switch -> Freenas @ home.

Any ideas?

What do you have set for Nameserver under the Network tab?

I have Google's DNS's 4.4.4.4 and 8.8.8.8 on both servers on NS 1 and NS2.

Ok, then it should be fine. How often does your IP address change?
Side note, 4.4.4.4 is Level3, 8.8.8.8 is Google.

Oh... should I put another NS instead of 4.4.4.4 then?

From my ISP? I believe every 21 days or so unless I do a modem reboot

I have a DynDNS service with NoIP.com so I've entered XXXXX.noip.com in the replication screen; forward the correct port to the correct local FreeNAS IP and that's done.

I'm getting those error e-mails a few times a day (2-4), usually during the night when there's nothing really going on.

It's fine to use 4.4.4.4, I just like correcting people :D

Just to clarify, you're getting these errors on the Studio FreeNAS, correct?

How many replication tasks do you have set up?

Ah okay :)

Yes that's correct - my 'pull' server never complains about anything.

I have 2 tasks, one for each vdev (Photo and Video) to PUSH from studio.

What is the Status of each task?

Is there anything else in the error message?

Video (added 200gb of data a week ago) - running
Photo - up to date

The full message is, I got those a few times a week/day:
Code:
Replication set4tb/Photo -> XXXXXX.noip.me:remote failed: Failed: ssh: Could not resolve hostname XXXXXX.noip.me: hostname nor servname provided, or not known

There was the other message of:
Code:
Replication set3tb/video -> XXXXXX.noip.me:remote2 failed: Failed: set3tb/video (auto-20160331.1330-3w->auto-20160331.1530-3w)

I am assuming it's currently attempting to resend that snapshot.

Wanted to update this after quite a bit of testing.

Uploading 1.1TB over WAN from Home to Studio worked with no hiccups. Took about 6-7 days, but that's just the first batch.

Uploading 200GB over WAN from Studio to Home was still giving me issue, although now it seems like something went through after 3 weeks of attempts. I had limited the upload to 900kb/s out of 1.17mb/s available as I suspect my uplink is not of great quality.

To bypass the issue - I will be reconfiguring my snapshots to happen every 30m & every hour - that way I am limiting the amount of data to copy over within 1 new snapshot.
