Hello,

I want to setup a FreeNAS box that should be theft proof. So I want to use encrypted disks. The documentation explains how to replace an encrypted drive.

It says that after the resilvering being complete, the encryption keys have to be "restored". I understand from what follows then that new keys are being generated. Is this correct? Does that mean the whole pool is being re-encrypted? And finally: Why is this necessary?

Thanks in advance!

It's not. The documentation is wrong. It's been pointed out multiple times.
