So it finally happened, 2 failed drives.
(Mirror, failed disks in 2 different sets)

The drives (da2 + da7) listed as faulted, and the “Offline” button was not showed.
I noted the SNs and location of the drives.
I shutdown the system, replaced the disks and booted up.

I went to View disks, and now da2 + da7 is listed with the SN of the new disks.

I went to “View Volumes” -> “Volume Status” but get a “Sorry, an error occured”

I then logged in via SSH, and ran “zpool status”.
The 2 disks now shows as “UNAVAIL”

I can still access my data.

So my question is - how do I get Freenas to start rebuilding :)

Thank you in advance,

hmm, noticed that an old scrub was running.
I cancled it, and went back to the GUI.
Now the new disks are listed as da5 + da12 instead for da2 + da7.
I could now do a replace of the failed da2 with da5.

But it looks like I have to wait for before I can replace da7 with da12, the GUI is back at the “Sorry, an error occured” message.

The da numbers don't mean anything and can change. What you want to do is use the GUI to replace the drives you removed. Don't use the cli because that will be wrong.

Any logs on /var/log/messages after the GUI said an error occurred? I feel like you are replacing the wrong drives or removed the wrong drives.

Thanks for your reply,

No new entries in /var/log/messages after the error in the GUI (did a "tail -f" and retried the GUI)

I am fairly sure that I replaced the correct drives, the SN matched :)

The GUI error looks like a timeout. Re-trying "Volume Status" some times gives "resilvering xyz....." then the error messsage. And other times it just goes directly to the error message after showing "loading" for 20 - 30 sec.
