Hi all,

I've had an earlier version of FreeNAS running; I forget the version, and the file system; the disk on which the OS was installed crashed, and now I have to re-install it. The problem is that my data was stored on a partition/format which I do not remember, but I need to use the disk to the newer version of FreeNAS. How do I get the data out? I tried plugging it into my windows laptop and it does not recognise the partition/format.

Help!

Kind regards,

First of all you need to find out what filesystem it was using...

I'd suggest you to install 8.0.2 and try to use the Auto Import.. If that doesn't work, do the same with 0.7.2

Hello!

Thanks for the tip, I'll try the auto-import. The older machine is completely gone, so there is no way for me to check the configuration; unfortunately, the only machines I have had available are Windows machines that do not even recognise the format!

I'll post when I get some details.

Kind regards
