I'm curious what your thoughts are for setting up a VMware based FreeNAS server to act as a file server for our internal documents and data. I was thinking of going with a ZFS Mirror but the more I think about it there may be something better in using two RAIDZ vdevs in a storage pool. Then again, maybe I am overthinking this. How would you proceed?

How do you proceed? The answer is don't use virtual freenas! You should read the noob guide and stickies on the forum first.
