i managed to upgrade to 9.1.1, everything seems to be ok.
Only problem i have is with my ethernet card, a belkin gigabit network card:
Sep 14 22:30:15 freenas kernel: skc0: <Belkin F5D5005 Gigabit Ethernet> port 0x2000-0x20ff mem 0x8a100000-0x8a103fff irq 17 at device 6.0 on pci0
Sep 14 22:30:15 freenas kernel: skc0: Belkin Gigabit Desktop Card rev. (0x1)
Sep 14 22:30:15 freenas kernel: sk0: <Marvell Semiconductor, Inc. Yukon> on skc0

hardware seems to be recognized ok, but i keep getting this as soon as i try to ssh or go to the GUI
Sep 14 22:35:21 freenas kernel: sk0: phy failed to come ready
Sep 14 22:35:21 freenas last message repeated 5 times
Sep 14 22:35:21 freenas kernel: sk0: link state changed to DOWN
Sep 14 22:35:21 freenas kernel: sk0: phy failed to come ready
Sep 14 22:35:22 freenas last message repeated 9 times
Sep 14 22:35:23 freenas kernel: sk0: link state changed to UP
Sep 14 22:35:24 freenas kernel: sk0: phy failed to come ready
Sep 14 22:36:10 freenas kernel: sk0: link state changed to DOWN
Sep 14 22:36:13 freenas kernel: sk0: link state changed to UP

card worked fine in 8.3.0
anyone have an idea?

My first guess is that your network card driver might not be completely updated to work with FreeBSD 9. My only 2 recommendations are to wait until its fixed(assuming FreeBSD has a ticket on the issue) or get a different card(Intel NICs work great!)
