after a lot of pain I have managed to get Feenas working on the SS4200. my problem is it cannot find the network card and have no network.

my Setup:

Freenas x64 8.3 installed on usb flash
Intel SS4200 headless with RS-232 serial connection.

below is the screen capture - free nas is booting but not finding/using the right NIC?

I would very much appreciate the help because I have been trying to install freenas on the SS4200 since last august - have been soldering cables, finding all the how-tos and now I do not have experience on linux/unix how to address this driver? problem. same has been reported on hardware by another member.

below the screen capture

I have since found that the network card onboard is the " The Intel® Entry Storage System SS4200-E uses the 82573E Gigabit Ethernet Network controller. "

is it an issue of not having the proper network driver? I am testing the same installation on a desktop pc with a different type NIC and it seems to have no problem to find the network card- get IP etc.

I can also see that its finding the NIC so why its not used as the primary NIC? IP address is already configured to a static IP without DHCP.

I just loaded 9.3 on an Intel SS4200 and I'm seeing the same type of problem - no networking. I see that you were working on this problem three years ago, so wayyy ancient history, but did you solve it and how? Thanks!
