Prevent creation of user directories under dataset?

I'm trying to create a Time Machine backup share. As you can see, I created a pool from two sketchy disks, and created a dataset called "Mac Backup".

I also created a user "mac-backups" and gave it access to the "Mac Backup" dataset. What I don't understand is why the ’’mac-backups" directory was created. The home directory for "mac-backups" is set to "/nonexistent"! I figured that TrueNAS users would only be used for authentication, and that I could make user-specific directories if I wanted to. Why does it do this?

This is because you selected the SMB preset that explicitly creates new datasets for users. Set "NO PRESET" and check the time machine box.
