Hello,

I recently downgraded from Corral 10.0.3 to FreeNAS-9.10-MASTER-201704130409 (14b59ab), that is the latest 9.10 nightly. I'm having problems installing plugins. Upon clicking install I am met with "[MiddlewareError: b"'warden_exception' object has no attribute 'encode'"]" and the following traceback: http://paste2.org/cnht8aA8

This message comes up on so far all plugins I tried to install. I found a similar user with problems and he was asked to provide a dmesg, so my dmesg can be found here: http://paste2.org/500hMbkC

Server stats:
  • FreeNAS-9.10-MASTER-201704130409 (14b59ab)
  • i3 4330 CPU, 3.50 GHz
  • 16 Gb ECC RAM
If anyone could help me out I would greatly appreciate it.

Did you have an earlier version of FreeNAS or had you started with a Corral install? The configuration databases are not compatible at all and it sounds like you have a Corral config on a 9.10 system.

If you had an earlier version of FreeNAS, you should instead boot from that in the boot menu. If you never had FreeNAS before Corral, you should do a fresh install and recreate your configuration.

Ah, good point.

I had 9.10 before Corral was released, then upgraded to Corral, and now downgraded back to 9.10. I used my pre-Corral configuration file to restore settings in my new post-Corral server. Would resetting to factory settings and then changing my everything manually do the trick?

Are you able to reboot into your initial FreeNAS 9 installation? If so, that version of the OS and its config will still be there.

No, my initial Freenas 9 installation is no longer available. I reformatted the USB a couple times since then.

Bummer. I'd suggest a fresh install and recreating your config (unless you still have a 9.x config saved someplace). Remaking the config is a definite PITA, but at least the data in the storage pool is unaffected by that.

I was afraid of that. Regarding that 9.x config: actually my current install is a fresh install of 9.10 nightly, and then I imported a 9.10 config file.

I'll try a fresh install and then manually redoing the settings, will report back later tonight.

Yup, did a full fresh install and then imported my 9.10 config again. This time everything works great, so not sure what the issue was.
