I am very new to FreeNAS. I just installed the latest version on Saturday and want to install the Plex plugin. Unfortunately, when I install the plugin, I receive the following error in "step 4" of the install.

Error: The command /usr/sbin/jexec 5 /usr/local/sbin/pbi_add -f --no-checksig /.plugins/plexmediaserver-0.9.8.18.290-amd64.pbi failed: ""

My configuration is:

Build FreeNAS-9.2.1.1-RELEASE-x64 (0da7233)
Platform Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E7500 @ 2.93GHz
Memory 8136MB

Storage is 1TB

After the error the jail is created, but the Plex plugin does not exist.

Thank you for the help. I have been traveling and re-tried this morning. I get the same results. The plugin status goes to 75% complete then fails. I have pasted the log from the install. Any thoughts?

Have you checked out this tutorial?

Since you're new to FreeNAS, I say give that a watch. There are a lot of small things that can affect the installation or usability of Plex later on.

I also experienced a similar issue to you, where the plugin installs to a certain percentage then pops up with that error message. I simply reinstalled FreeNAS and it worked again.

THANK YOU for the suggestion! I had viewed a different how to video and missed a step that this one helped with. I think my problem was in configuring the drive for the jail. Once I removed the old jails and configured the jails the install worked fine.

I have my Plex running and streaming now. Thanks again.

I followed the video above, had everything working then all of a sudden plex server shut down and I can not turn the plugin back on. Im on 9.2.1.5 with the plex plugin 0.9.9.7.429-amd64. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Had this running on Ubuntu without any issues.

Jim67,
I had been running fine for a while. Now my FreeNAS keeps failing. I have to restart the server. I have been working to see if I can resolve the issue. But so far no luck. If you had it running on something else, maybe it would be better to switch back. I am considering changing to a platform that is stable. I had hoped this would be a good platform I could rely on, but now it won't stay usable. Sad to say, Plex ran better and more consistently on an old windows box. I didn't have to worry about the server just randomly stopping.
I had been looking for something I could set up and depend on. So far, I have not found that in FreeNAS. I had hoped that it would, but I have been disappointed. Get what you pay for I guess.
