periodic snapshot tasks not showing in share

i am trying to build a windows share with previous versions but there is no available tasks showing up. i click the drop down and nothing. i even tried using the old style gui and just the --- shows up in the drop down. how do i get my snapshot tasks to show?

so as of 11 u7 this feature does not work like the support document states. you MUST do it partially backwards from the recommendation in the DOC. the steps for the periodic snapshot creation are correct, but the share MUST be built out with no snapshot selected. then after that you can edit the share, add the snapshot task and restart samba.

i removed the share and tried the entire process 3 times to verify that this worked, and that no other combination was available.

In 11.3 this is all replaced with a checkbox "enable shadow copies". You check the box and all snapshots are visible.

man i was running 9.10 until 2 weeks ago. i shan't be doing that any time soon. i only moved up to 11.anything because a hardware change required a reinstall.
