PERC S110 "RAID" Controller?

I have a server at work with a PERC S110 "RAID" Controller in it. Since the S110 is a software controller (i.e. FakeRAID) would it work properly with FreeNAS? It doesn't have a write cache at all, and has the ability to set drives attached to it as non-RAID drives. Due to this, I think it would work well for it. The other option I have is to buy a PERC H710 and reinstall Windows, but I think ZFS would perform better for our usage (and the 128GB of RAM would be a lot better used in FreeNAS).

Is the underlying hardware Intel? If so, it should work.

AFAIK the underlying hardware is Intel
