Hi guys,

I gues this topic has appeared quite often up to now. I went through a few threads concerning that problem but couldn't really get something out of it. I'm using ECC RAM but haven't tested it yet, since I cannot boot into memtest because the board doesn't want to boot from usb and I don't know why. The file enclosed contains the results of smartctl -a /dev/adaX from 0-5.
So I start posting the logs and hope someone sees more in them than I'm able to. I hope someone can help here. If more logs are needed I will gladly provide them.

Here is as requested my setup:

  • FreeNAS-11.1-RELEASE
  • ASRock C2550D4I Mainboard - socked - DDR3 RAM - MI
  • 450 Watt Corsair SF Series SF450 Modular 80+ Gold
  • 16GB (2x 8192MB) Kingston ValueRAM DDR3-1333 ECC DIMM CL9-9-9 Dual Kit
  • 1x 250GB Samsung 850 Evo 2.5" (6.4cm) SATA 6Gb/s TLC Toggle (MZ-75E250B/EU)

Your smart data shows no testing (long or short), so lets start there. Please run a long test for each
of the five drives in your pool and post the full (non-edited) results in code tags for each drive.

Ok I scheduled a short smart test for every night at 2 am. How should I synchronize this with scrubbing and snapshotting. Is there a best practice? Doesn't smart interefere with the scrubbing and snapshotting?

No. You should also schedule long test on all your drives as well at least once every other week.

I'm thinking that I must be clearer with my request. We are trying to find the reason for an error on your machine.
I would not concern myself at this time with a testing schedule, instead I would set up a LONG test on each one of
your drives right now. When those tests are done, post the entire content of the readout for each drive here.
Please post the output in code tags.

Has anybody advice? At least how to get rid of the warning if it is not a problem.
