Oh oh 2 of 4 drives on the fritz help.

Hi gang.

I was replacing a bad drive when another one started to give read and write errors.
Which is killing the "zpool replace" stuck at 25.7% for days.

I tried restarting it and same.
disconnected the bad drive ad8 and zpool replace continued but machine keeps crashing.
not sure if it's the machine or the drives or the both.

and worse I'm running 0.7 rc 1 I was going to update after fixing the drives.

I should be able to zpool replace with just two drives right?
If not what should I do ? the system is unstable with just 2 drives.

You should post more information about your system. Things like: hardware components, RAIDZ2?, what exact errors are you seeing? Also, the output of 'zpool status' and 'smartctl' on each disk. Post the results inside

Which means you are in the wrong forums. Go use the appropriate ones unless you are looking for bad advice.

Alternatively, assuming you are actually using ZFS, "upgrade" now as the newer ZFS code is better at replacing failed devices not worse.

Sorry to be a nob but where should I post it then?

and How do I get the the logs from the Console if the system is crashing. I'm new to all this stuff..
would it be mirrored in my web interface. Or do I reissue the command in the web interface?

could I resilver the bad drive and then do the replace?
can I cancel the replace. So so confused, by what to do..

Read PaleoN's post again. You aren't in the right forum. What you are doing is like asking a Linux forum for help with Windows.

If you had bothered to read the forum stickies you'd know that FreeNAS .7 is not related to FreeNAS 8 at all except by name.
