Hi everyone,

I encountered the following problem with my FreeNAS setup:
The transfer speed between my PC and my server is only about 15 MB/s. The server is running an Intel Gigabit NIC and it is connected to my router via a Cat 5e Ethernet cable. The router itself is then connected via a Gigabit Powerline Adaptor (10/100/1000) to my computer. Theoretically speaking, I should therefore reach gigabit transfer speeds to my shares, right?

ifconfig output:
Code:
em0: flags=8943<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,PROMISC,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> metric 0 mtu 1500
		options=42098<VLAN_MTU,VLAN_HWTAGGING,VLAN_HWCSUM,WOL_MAGIC,VLAN_HWTSO>
		ether 68:05:ca:3e:96:3d
		inet 192.168.0.15 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 192.168.0.255
		nd6 options=9<PERFORMNUD,IFDISABLED>
		media: Ethernet 1000baseT (1000baseT <full-duplex>)
		status: active

so the only way for me to achieve better transfer rates is to physically connect the two devices via Ethernet cable?

You might get better performance with WiFi but a physical ethernet cable is the gold standard.

Cheers,
Matt
