No Previous file versions in Windows File History

I have a share, connected to Windows. I have snapshots enabled

If I go to a folder, I can see the snapshot

And if I click open, I get the file too

Yet, if I just right click on the file itself. I see no versions

Any ideas why not? Ideally I'd like to see the snaps for this file in there too

I think I got it, I edited a file and then it does show up on the next snapshot. Odd that it shows folders with no changes, but not files

Could be due to metadata changes between the time that snapshots were created.

On second thought, the root directory of a share might display all previous snapshots as "Previous Versions" folders. Someone more familiar with this might chime in.
