As far as I can tell, anyway -- no weekly scrubs, no daily security reports.

I noticed it first by the lack of daily security reports; I tested email and that is working as it should. I changed my ZFS scrub to be daily, and (according to "zpool status"), that didn't run either.

Any suggestions for what could be stuck?

I am having the same issue with the email system. I set up a new FreeNAS box, it emailed me for a week or so, then stopped. Everything else seems to be working, however, I'm new and haven't figured out the scrubs stuff yet. Has anyone figured this out?

I *think* it may have been due to my mail server taking too long to respond. I'm not entirely positive, but it seemed to fix itself around the same time I figured out that FreeNAS' sendmail python script was timing out and removed the offending DNSBL.

Oh, and just so I can figure these things out by myself in the future, how did you figure it out? Is there a log that shows this script timeout?

How you remove them -- assuming it's the issue at all -- depends on the mail server, not FreeNAS. Sorry.

How I figured it out was that I noticed there wasn't any daily security messages, so I spent some time trying to debug that. Sending test email messages from FreeNAS (Settings > Email > Send Test Mail), and looking at the logs on both the FreeNAS system and the mail server showed me that the test message wasn't getting through.

All my test emails work but the daily emails don't get sent. What you you guess is causing that?

There, it's going to have to require looking at the logs, I am afraid.

What?!

Don't be selfish. Randomly guess nicisdigital's problem and tell him the answer. After all you fixed your unrelated to FreeNAS problem.

I don't know that it's unrelated. I did not, however, attempt to undo the change to my mail server to see if the problem recurred.

But I see that sarcasm continues to be the norm. Good job.

Maybe someone could tell me which log file to look at ?!?! The /var/log/maillog always says "log file turned over", even when my mail was working.

I don't know which log files you'd want to look at; I don't think I ever found something in log files indicating what (if anything) was amiss. (I verified that email wasn't being sent properly by checking my mail server logs.)

One thing to try to verify is whether jobs aren't running, vs you are not getting daily/weekly messages sent. One of the reasons I decided they weren't running is because I tried setting ZFS scrubs to every day, with a 0 day limit, and checking 'zpool status' in the shell didn't seem to show it being updated. (I am being hesitant because I didn't record any of this, so my memory could be fuzzy.)
