Hi,

I just burned and started up a USB key freeNas install and sadly the default install did not recognize the two network cards in this fairly recent HP desktop box.

The two cards are:
1. Atheros AR8161/8165 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet
2. Ralink Technologies NET R28X Wireless 802.11a/b/g

Since this is more of a BSD device recognition issue, if someone could point me in the right direction I would be greatly appreciative.

I know my way around a Linux system and support structure but have no clue about BSD resources.

Thanks.

Yes.. get new hardware. Neither Atheros nor wireless is supported in FreeNAS.

And if you take the opportunity to read the stickies, the Intel NICs are the best cards for FreeBSD support.

Read the "so you want some hardware suggestions" under help&support/hardware.

There is a comment about Intel NICs in the last paragraph under main boards.
