I just built a new system with with 4 1T drives, configured in a raidz
I put a single volume and share.
I then copied some test files to it across the network
everything seems fine.
But before I go production, I wanted to test the fail over process.
So I unplug drive 4 to simulate a failure.
Nothing happens, I can still access the volume and use the files.
BUT... the system gives me no indication of the drive failure! If I look at the volume and then drives, the only indication of a problem is drive 4 has no name or serial number.
I try to look at spool status but I simply get a exclamation mark and the message "sorry an error occurred"
If a drive fails in the raid, I would like big flashing lights, horns blowing, barking dogs, etc.
How do I get the system to report a bad drive.
NOTE: I can start everything over, I have no important data on the system.
