Hi Guys,

We have a fresh install of FreeNAS 9.1.0 that I am in the process of configuring.
I have successfully created a ZFS volume but I have noticed if I tried to view disks in the "View Disks" section none are listed. The page states: No entry has been found

I tried rebooting a few times with no success so I applied the 9.1.1 upgrade but again this didn't resolve the problem.

Anyone have any idea why this may be happening?

Thanks

ShaneJ,

I have seen come very odd things happening with the way the web pages are rendered whilst using Chrome in V9 of FreeNAS. For example, when looking at disks or looking at reporting, nothing appears. Yet, when I use Firefox, all comes up. I would definitely check that first.

After that, if nothing shows in Chrome or Firefox (or Opera perhaps). I would SSH to the box and run a "zfs list" to see what, if anything comes up.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for you responses.

I have been using Firefox but have now also tried IE with the same result. I did try clearing the cache but this didn't help.

zfs list gives the following output:
NAME USED AVAIL REFER MOUNTPOINT
bne.prod.01 945M 10.7T 944M /mnt/bne.prod.01

Is there a command to list the individual drives? Its a bit late for me at the moment but I'll do some searching in the morning to see if such a command exists.

Thanks for the help

Looks to me like you have created your "pool" but have not created any volumes or block devices inside it.

There are a number of ways you can list hard drives, depending if you just want to see hard drives on the system, or if you are only interested in drives that are part of your pool

Take a look here for detailed information "http://doc.freenas.org/index.php/Volumes"

In summary though.
  • You can see hard drives assoc with a "pool" from the freenas GUI under "Storage","Volumes","View Disks
  • From the command line you can do (for example) "zpool status" which will list drives that are part of your pool, but this does not list drives that are not part of your pool.
  • There are other commands out there "camcontrol" is an example. Google camcontrol for correct syntax

I don't have my FreeNAS box available so can't give any more specifics on syntax or other commands that might help.

You are correct in that I have created a pool but haven't yet created any zvol or datasets.

zpool status on the cli does list the drives in the pool but "View Disks" in the GUI does not. Its the GUI that I am having trouble with.

Is it worth raising a bug report regarding this GUI problem?

Thanks guys
