The exports in /etc/exports should default to "subtree_check" instead of "no_subtree_check" so that nfs v3 and v4 clients work the same. For consistency without an "All Dirs" option like CORE had.
/etc/exports option no_subtree_check appears to only apply to nfs v3. It seems nfs v4+ allows subtree mounts no matter what.
