Permissions on your share are as follows:
Code:
# file: /mnt/Vol1/Shiva
# owner: root
# group: Everyone
            owner@:rwxpDdaARWcCos:fd----:allow
            group@:rwxpDdaARWcCos:fd----:allow
         everyone@:r-x---a-R-c---:fd----:allow

The above output means that the LOCAL user "Root" has full control. The LOCAL (not AD) group "Everyone" has full control. Everyone else (as designated by well-known SID S-1-1-0) has read-only access. Your local group "Everyone" has no members. Ergo all your domain users have read-only access.

To fix this problem, in the webgui change the permissions of your dataset "Shiva" so that it is owned by Root (user) and "Domain Admins" (group). Then using a domain admin account, through the "computer management" MMC snap-in or through windows explorer navigating to \\freenas. Change the security settings of your share in the following ways:

1) Grant "Domain Users" read, write, and modify permissions
2) remove the "Everyone" ACE

I cant change the permissions.
I am logged in as a Domain Admin, and changing the \\freenas relevant folders results with an error: " An error occured applying security information to: <path> Access is denied."

As you have permissions configured right now, not even domain admins can change them. You need to change the dataset owner in the freenas webgui first.

I did....I was sure it was implied in my answer.
I did change the permissions in the FreeNas Webgui, but the permissions under windows are still unchangeable

Go into your freenas share config in the webgui, uncheck the box "apply default permissions" and click "Okay". Open the share back up in the webgui, check the box "apply default permissions" and click "Okay".

Then in your windows computer type in "cmd.exe" "net use * /DELETE" to remove all mapped network drives, log out of your account and log back in.

Then try changing permissions again.

thanks, since I have a major malfunction on a totally different system (totally not related, it just takes 100% of my efforts) AND the FreeNas user has gone home already (so urgency has decreased a bit) I will continue this later/tomorrow.
Thanks anyway :)

OK, two weeks have gone by since the last message on this issue. I had a major network issue that took me 4 days to troubleshoot and solve, then been sick for almost a week.
Now I am back to face THIS one.
A short recap:
I have dis-joined tha FreeNas from the domain and re-joined it again, with no different results. Tha FreeNas is visible but no one has permissions to Save/Modify/Delete files/folders on it.
Who is out there willing and ready to assist?
