Hi, I'm Tim Trischuk. Been using FreeNas for years, with a server made up of leftover parts, but recently decided to get serious with it.
Bought a SuperMicro board and a cheap Xeon, 16G of ECC and a large case for lots of fans and drives (10 drives so far). Stability of this system has been much better than the old cobbled-together one, of course, and I'm very happy with FreeNAS so far. Also loving the PLEX plugin, which is the main reason for the server.
The only niggles have been with the UPS (keeps disconnecting itself from USB) and with a PCIE x2 card that provides the last 2 SATA ports. That one likes to hang up about once every 6 months. I'll look for a replacement if it happens again.
Looking forward to more development on the VM capabilities - as soon as it gets USB passthrough controls I'll start using that.
