Hi,

perhaps you have noticed that Plex is offering a new Premium Music feature with gracenote Music detection etc. https://plex.tv/music
but its not avail to FreeBSD.

Any idea what we can do to get it?

Honestly, I was tempted to just delete this. This isn't a FreeNAS question in the slightest. So I've moved it to off-topic instead.

Ask the Plex guys what the limitation is, then see what it takes to deal with that limitation. If they have custom code that is not compilable in FreeBSD, then you've got a serious problem. If it's a package that's just not available on FreeBSD, maybe someone could be convinced (or paid) to make it available.

But all we know is "not supported". You have to know why, and the why is definitely not going to found on this forum. More than likely the solution is not even close to being found here, once you know the why.

Meh.

Plex is still awesome even without some of the bells and whistles.

Not sure how hard it would be to get a Linux jail up and running. I haven't really looked into it yet, but I probably will since my only jail is for Plex. That is the only outside service I want on my nas. Not sure I want to attempt something that may break something though.

This sucks. I went on the plex forum. It turns out that the issue is that grace note doesn't support freebsd.... and won't any time soon...

Hopefully Gracenote comes around, but I doubt the user base for Plex users on FreeBSD is large enough to create some motivation. At least not anytime soon. A 64-bit Linux jail would solve that problem.

Yah I hope that comes back.... Plex is the #1 features I use my NAS for, and I was really looking forward to using it as my music server. I may have to go check out some alternatives like UnRAID.

I don't think I can use anything other than zfs now that I've had a taste. The new update really isn't that bad on FreeBSD. I want the Plex Mix feature but could care less about the Gracenote advanced tagging stuff. I keep my collection tagged and I really don't want something mucking up all that work I've put in to it.
