Hi guys,
Currently I'm setting up my first NAS.

Hardware:
1. MB: SuperMicro X11-ssl-f
2. CPU: Xeon e3-1230v6
3. RAM: 4x16GB samsung Udimm 2400Mhz ecc
4. Chasis: Fractal Design R5
5. Cooling: Thermalright Macho Rev. B
6. Disks: 8x4TB WD RED
7. HBA Controller: LSI 9211
8. Crosair CS750M

Here are some pictures.

I was really afraid if that cooler can fit with MB/RAM and chasis but as You can see it's fine.

Three sad things are:
1. Because of LSI the compuer boot up few minutes
2. I have some issue with ram - so I can not use all ram - only 2 of them - here is the link to the discussion: https://forums.freenas.org/index.ph...ssl-f-problem-with-boot-up.63660/#post-456083
3. I have only 8 sata power slots, so I can not add new drives - I'd like to add 2 ssd for caching - any hints how to use any extender or is it possible to add next module for sata for Power suply?

So get rid of the PCI expansion ROM. It's more trouble than it's worth.

Wipe it (but not the firmware) with sas2flash, outside the operating system, with the EFI shell version.

Molex to SATA power adapter(s) would be the easiest and (AFAIK) best solution to power further drives.

I have no molex at all. This is modular Power supply. I have onbly 2 lines (each 4 ports) for disks.
I need to do some extender, or somehow use the 8pin PCI-E power line

Is that a new or a used one? Spec sheet says that the CS750M has seven (!) 4-pin molex connectors. Unfortunately I can't say if Corsair sells spare parts separately.

Used, I need to look for the box of the power supply. Maybe there is something more.

They do, but possibly only expensive cables with individually-sleeved wires.

need to go to my storage, and check if there some spare cables in the box.
Is there any way to speed up my NAS? Some SSD for caching or something similiar?

Exchanged the mb to new one. Now 4x16GB ram is working fine, so the previous one was damaged

@MrToddsFriends is right Molex to SATA is best, 15 Pin SATA Female 1 to 4 Male Extension Power Supply Cable adapters work fine

I run 19 drives off a smaller PSU than you have using power adapters

Have Fun
EDIT: Forgot the boot SSD increased drive number from 18 to 19

I'm waiting for power extenders to SATA.
Can I set up new pool with 2 differemt SSD drives? Both are 250GB but one is Samsung 850EVO and the second one is 860EVO.
Can I boot from this pool and use it also for cache?
