How do you have your pool configured?

Please don't tell us you're using the 3Ware RAID controller to present a RAID array to FreeNAS... :o

The log entry is pretty cryptic. But, assuming you have a good FreeNAS pool layout -- i.e., a design where FreeNAS has full access to each of your disks -- you can run SMART tests on your disks to see if any of them have problems. That would be the best place to start.

I am a complete novice here.
I ran the initial configuration wizard for setup.
the pool includes all space on the 3x3TB disks.

Hmmm... Does your FreeNAS system work? Are you experiencing any problems with it, other than the annoyingly cryptic log messages?

To dig deeper, load the FreeNAS GUI and go to 'Storage' in the top menu. Highlight your pool, then click on 'Volume Status'; the rightmost of the three icons at the bottom:
freenas-volume-status.jpg

This will tell us how your pool is configured. Here is the volume status from my test server, showing that it's configured with a RAIDZ2 vdev:

Post a screenshot of the results here, or just tell us how your pool is designed. Knowing this, we can determine how best to proceed.

From what I gather that message is nothing to be concerned about - "3ware RAID controller alarms"
It's just an indication that that check was run. If there aren't any actual errors listed or any errors in those logs, you're fine.

However, I will defer to others that actually may have one of these controllers or history with them. Perhaps @BigDave can chime in since it was mentioned in his posting ("CAM status: SCSI Status Error") back in May of 2016...
