Multiple Jails

I would like to clean up my jails, basically wipe them all out and start fresh as I have a 2 jail directories and it feels messy.

Please see the picture.

When I try to delete it gives me a permission denied (deleting on windows box via share to Freenas)

I appreciate any help/guidance here.

These should be datasets on your FreeNAS, and as such, you should be deleting the datasets from the FreeNAS GUI. A dataset is not merely a 'folder'

I'm new to FreeNAS and trying to understand why all these empty jails were created. Is it safe to delete the ones that are empty (jails, jails_2 through jails_8) or are they needed for some reason that I'm not aware of?
