Hi,

I need to have more than one email for the root user so that more than one person can receive alerts from the system.

Is there another way to do this?

I tried, using commas and semi column to add multiple emails to the root user but keep getting a syntax error.

Thanks.

Build version (from System -> Information). Also, what is the exact syntax error message?

FreeNAS-9.10.1 (d989edd)

I go to Account > View Users > double click root > try to add a second email in the "E-Mail:" field > a bubble appears next to the text box with a red "!" sign

"The value entered is not valid."

There already is an existing bug report, and it's been there for over a year.

Is there any other way to get system emails sent to mutiple emails addresses besides adding two onto the root user?

That's a 10 bug so will be a while yet (and wouldn't be backported to 9.x). Please create one in the FreeNAS9 project and post the issue number here.

FWIW, I simply use an e-mail address that has its own rules to send messages it receives to other desired recipients.

Yeah, I thought of that already but I'd really like to do it from FreeNAS instead.

I dislike workarounds and prefer to do things the proper way.

Frankly, a issue this big is embarrassing for NAS software, it's a basic feature that should be standard. Especially on a device that's headless 99.9% of the time.

I'm surprised this wasn't fixed in 9 and 10 when the bug report I linked to was submitted 12 months ago.
