How do I figure what is wrong if I can't mount a SAMBA share? Is there a log file I can check? I assume that if it was a permissions problem, I would get a 'pemission denied' error.

The client is FreeBSD and I have enabled SMB1 support... I guess I must forgotten to click somewhere...

I see this error which I am unable to interpret:-

smb_maperror: Unmapped error 2:91

Anyone know what this means?

If I run smbutil view //guest@NETBIOSNAME the share which I want to mount is displayed. Does the error suggest a permissions problem?

I am running FreeNAS-11.2-U7

FreeBSD's mount_smbfs doesn't even support SMB2 (released 2006), and SMB1 is insecure, so you might want to look at some other solution.

Can you install samba on your FreeBSD client and use it to connect to your FreeNAS server?

I have enabled SMB1 support, or so I thought... Are you suggesting that the error is due to that support not being enabled? I have numerous FreeBSD systems running standard FreeBSD so installing samba on each of them is not viable. I do have another FreeNAS box on which I can mount SMB shares without any problem, so I must have missed something in the configuration on this particular one. I guess I need to compare the SMB sharing on the two systems...
