Hi there,

Back to FreeNAS 7, it was able to modify transfer mode (AUTO, SATA300 etc) of a hard drive under "View Disks". I think this ability to set transfer mode was gone since version 8 and not coming back at version 9 too.

My question is, is there a CLI way to modify this transfer mode setting? I have two drives set to SATA300 and other are set to AUTO. Replacing hard drive would not reset this transfer mode. I want to align the setting. Thanks.

FreeNAS .7 has nothing to do with FreeNAS 8.x or 9.x. That project became nas4free.

Maybe I mixed up the version number, but the transfer mode was able to be edited via GUI at an earlier version but then it was gone after version upgrade.

What more important is that how to modify transfer mode via CLI?

I've never seen that option in the FreeNAS8 GUI...ever.

From the command line, I'm not sure how you'd do it(or if you even can for FreeNAS). Some hard drives have a jumper on them that will force 1.5Gbps. That will definitely force a slower speed.

Oh, try this command..

camcontrol negotiate adaX -U -R 1500

This may not be persistent through reboots...

You could create a feature enhancement request at support.freenas.org asking that it be added to the GUI.
