Moving to a new server platform and wanted to run this by the experienced lot.

At the moment my jails are only running PLEX, but im pretty sure theyre located on the actual pool rather than on the Boot drive.

So ive got this

Install FreeNAS to new machine, import database, move drives over and import pool.

Will all of my data be preserved this way such as PLEX metadata?

Trying to make the system as modular as possible.

You are correct: the jail data is on the pool. However, the config is responsible for running the jails.

Don't import the config first; that's backwards. Install FreeNAS, move the drives, and then import the config.

So I'm assuming i won't have to setup my shares again as the database config file takes care of this?

Sorry for such a new question but its been a long couple of days and i want to make sure this is done right

Any reason you can't move the boot device along with the storage drives?

Yep, I've got an Intel SLC SSD that I'm moving the OS to and also the System Dataset to avoid polling the pool every 3 seconds with minuscule writes
