Hi,
currently I have only a bunch of hard drives to organize my files. It is a mess to use and backup all of them so I decided to build a FreeNAS server. This server should consist of at least 10 drives used in a Raid z2. The following image illustrates the desired archtitecture:
The 6tb drives are from the WD Red series and the 3 tb drives are from the Seagate Barracuda series.
I thought about the hardware and got this:
I've got SK Hynix DIMM 8GB, DDR3L-1333, CL9, reg ECC from the tested RAM list, but i am unsure about the quantity to install. The possibilities are probably 32Gb, 48Gb or 64Gb. I preffer 48gb, but what do you think about it?
Also I'm precarious about the power supply. Which one should I take:
I currently plan to use encryption so I picked a CPU with AES-NI instruction set. I might want to install additional ssd's and a 10GBit network connection in the fututre if the performance is not sufficient.
Are there any bad points with this configuration?
