Microsoft Excel cannot access the file "server:path:to:file"

Hi.

Cannot seem to find a solution for this. Now forgive me but am a novice user.
So basically on our network have both Win and Macs. The Macs cannot edit/save files within the FreeNas directory, while the Win computers have no issues at all.

We have CIFS shares setup and connect to the FreeNas by just the ip (smb://)

The error the Macs are receiving are:
MacError.jpg

If anyone could help would be greatly appreciated. Now this applies to any files in the FreeNas, not just isolated to Excel, Word.
