FreeNas Beta 2.1-2

I thought FR ZFS cache used all available memory. Plex became unusable and looked at the dashboard and found this :

I have 56TB total space and 23TB being used right now. I have another 32GB OTW. I know it should be ECC ......long story for another time.
Plex was going to heck and switched around the various Beta's .... I'd go back to 11.3, but another long story of not being aware how to properly switch between boot images. I'm learning the HARD way ..... as usual. I think I'm stuck with the Beta. I have plenty of configs saved. Hopefully RC is around the corner. The only settings I've messed with are permissions.

At one time Plex transcoding had multiple instances with 70% CPU usage when no clients were active for some time. That's about all the peculiar goings on.

Everything was fine ..... and then it all went downhill all of a sudden ....

Jails :
Plex
HDHomeRun
MiniDLNA

Hi @kherr. Your post is a bit all over the place. Could you please help me understand exactly what you're experiencing and what you think is wrong?

Plex became unusable and looked at the dashboard and found this
What does it mean that plex became unusable? Did it throw errors? Was the Jail crashing? Were you unable to log in? Was it simply unable to stream a video or music?

Plex was going to heck and switched around the various Beta's .... I'd go back to 11.3, but another long story of not being aware how to properly switch between boot images.
Are you talking about changing your FreeNAS version? If you're using beta releases you would expect more bugs and less stability, so that could be part of the problem. Moving the version around may make it harder to identify exactly what is going on. Perhaps pick a new, stable version and then provide details of performance on that?

Could you please try to rephrase your post to be a bit more clear? Try to provide details and context. Try to provide very specific things. For example, exactly what version of FreeNAS are you even running? Which CPU do you have? How exactly is Plex failing? How did it used to work? What changed when it went from working to not working? The more specific and clear you are the easier it will be for someone to help point you in the right direction.

File access, lots and lots of circles while loading directories and constant playback stopping. When I saw the low / kiltered memory reserves, I thought the memory was messed up causing issues.

I now think I know why .... the system was in a scrub. Shouldn't there be very little free memory and a large cache ....

That's something else I needed to find out .... a 'bug' or an 'issue' .... only one way to find out is to ask ... keeping it to myself solves nothing ...

It's been a long night ..
