Mainteinance scripts make NAS drop performance to unusable levels

Dear all,

I've found that at 3am every day FreeNAS is running maintenance scripts.

Part of what those scripts are running is invoking a dozen of "find /" processes every time, for a total of three times. When this happens the NAS performance goes down to nil, making network share disconnection.

Because of the configuration and contents of my NAS these scripts take 2 hours to complete, during which, the NAS is in a self-imposed DoS state.

Killing the find processes return the NAS to perfect.

As these scripts are run by FreeNAS as part of the system itself, they don't appear on the UI at all, so I can't configure the running hours, a runtime limit or disable them at all.

Is there any way to change the scripts behaviour?

Which version of FreeNAS?

And what hardware, etc etc.

You know, see the forum rules for recommended stuff to include. ;)

Seems kinda irrelevant all that information about the hardware for asking how to disable a system enabled script.

Sorry I said kinda? It's absolutely irrelevant, nonetheless publishing that information publicly on a forum sounds more of a security hole.

About the FreeNAS versions, all versions since 9.1 to lastest stable.

Disabling the cron scripts isn't supported. Had you actually answered the questions, we might have been able to identify the real root of your problems. Band-aid fixes aren't a good idea.
