I got my TrueNAS system working with a mutiple 4 TB HD -firmware flashed into IT mode.
But now I have a different use case that the is not TrueNAS and need to use the hardware controller in raid 5 mode.
What is the largest addressable HD in 2022?

Solution: I think that chart is a few years old so it's not going to show newer drives. I think you're good as long as the sector size is 512e and not 4K.

circa 2018- The drive supports 512 512e but not native 4K.

there is currently functionally no limit. the limits were on sas1 controllers. with sas2+, they changed it. hell, you would struggle to get to that limit with any array of disks, much less a single disk.
