For those that don't know, in the SCSI world, SES is SCSI Enclosure Services, a target
used to get misc. information from a disk tray, (like external enclosure with fans and
power supplies).

I would guess that USB over SCSI may include something like that.

I got five of them. Haven't shucked them yet, but the same performance numbers and curve.

Interestingly enough there's some sort of USB SES device that shows up with each one, "WD SES Device 3002".

I shucked mine last week and they're working great now in my workstation. These HGST drives are running great! $600 drives for $250, what's not to like! Also, they were not encrypted. I simply removed them from the WDC My Book shell and popped them directly into the computer. I used two old plastic gift cards/credit cards to shuck both of mine without breaking any of the plastic tabs. Search on youtube for a couple of good non-destructive how-to's.
