Does this seem like an excessive amount of ntp updates?
Seems like the clock is not working. Any advice?

It seems like an unstable clock, hardly an unusual event on the Intel architecture. Since you haven't followed the Forum Rules and provided information about your hardware platform, you've given us nothing to work with, and as someone who works with both NTP and FreeNAS, all I can do is frustratedly handwave at you about maybe trying alternate clocks.

device = '5400 Chipset Memory Controller Hub'

So, some ancient eight year old chipset

vendor = 'nVidia Corporation'
device = 'HDMI Audio stub'
class = multimedia

With desktop grade board features

vendor = 'LSI Logic / Symbios Logic'
device = 'SAS1068E PCI-Express Fusion-MPT SAS'
class = mass storage

and an outdated LSI 3Gbps HBA

vendor = 'Broadcom Corporation'
device = 'NetXtreme BCM5754 Gigabit Ethernet PCI Express'
class = network

and a Broadcom crud-grade gigabit Ethernet adapter.

Now, I guess I could spend a half an hour trying to reverse-engineer the rest of your system from that, but instead I'll just quote for you, from the Forum Rules, conveniently linked at the top of every page in Red Type.

  • System Configuration Information: Items marked with an asterisk “*” are required for a failure postings. However, all items are recommended and could simply be part of your tag-line.
  1. * FreeNAS version (ex. “FreeNAS 9.2.1.6-Release 64-bit”)

  2. * Hardware:

  3. * Motherboard (Model)

  4. * CPU (Model)

  5. * RAM Size (in GB and model)

  6. Hard Drives (Model), Quantity, and RAIDZ configuration

  7. Add-On cards

  8. For network connectivity, include details on your network hardware/configuration.

Please be considerate and just provide the information. Most of the forum participants are just other community members who have little incentive to try to help if you don't even provide the basic information that could help identify likely problems. Some of us are professionals who work on servers all the time, but even so, there's not a whole lot of incentive for me to go digging around doing lots of work. You're in the best position to do the work up-front to help us help you.
