RAIDZ2 is the safer option. Striped mirrors are faster. Depends on your needs.

I edit footage stored on the FreeNAS, so speed was an issue, and probably why I went the striped mirrors route. The reason I went the NAS route was because I'm a two man team, soon to be three, so I needed multiple people to be able to access all the current projects. It's been a year and a half, and it's been working pretty flawlessly for that.

Update time. I'm using RichCopy, and in my test there was one folder that gave an Error 5 Access is Denied message. I browsed to the location of this folder and I couldn't access it from my PC. The folder was copied to the server from a different PC, so I didn't have permission to access it.

Is there a way to make sure all folders and files on the FreeNAS is accessible and editable to all users?

Have the owner set all shares to allow everything.
