Can anybody recommend a PCIe USB card to purchase - Right now, I'm looking for something I can recommend to use with a HAOS (Home Assistant) VM.
Ideally the USB card would have at least two onboard controllers so multiple VMs can share it.
I have tried USB passthrough, but it doesn't work very well. For example, the Conbee II (ZigBee USB controller) requires a serial USB passthrough, which has never worked on TrueNAS, and most recently, the Aeotec Z-Wave Stick has stopped working due to changes in Z-Wave JS. Basically, the Z-Wave stick is restarted when Z-Wave JS starts, which causes it to be ejected from the VM and doesn't reattach automatically. Since KVM is extremely limited on TrueNAS (and we can't just edit the XML), the only option is using PCIe passthrough for the entire USB controller.
