Localisation in the GUI

I'm having trouble setting localisation on my freenas machine.

Being located in the UK means that my brain stutters whenever I see the US date format being used (mm/dd/yyyy). In the (new)GUI I can see this format when perusing boot environments

How do I set an appropriate locale - preferably without a reboot of the machine.

I'm fully accepting that my searching of the documentation might be incomplete - Apologies if this is the case

Alas the language dropdowns do not seem to help.

I set :-
language to be "British English"
Console map to be "United Kingdom"
Timezone to be "Europe/London"

and restarted the web interface

All of this should be hint enough that date format should be the dd/mm/yyyy but instead we still get the confusing US default of mm/dd/yyyy.

I'm thinking I need to dive into the FreeBSD conf files but this would probably need a reboot and it seems like it *should* be a easily configurable web setting.

I agree. I'm not sure why it is not unless if there is some other way to configure it. Those settings are a reasonable indicator but not always, there ought to be a simple way to set the format. If there is no other answer provided here in the next day or two about an easy GUI solution (rather than delving into the FreeBSD end) then I'd suggest a ticket at the FreeNAS jira site. There may even be those in the world that prefer some other calendar or format scheme, like all numeric with no spaces or punctuation.

Thanks TigerSharke. I'll wait a coupla days and if no easy fix will raise it as a feature request / enhancement.

(never thought I could be part of the solution - always been considered a troublemaker in the past......#proud)

Go ahead and create a feature request as there currently isn't a locale option for the UI wrt date format.

Issue raised

(hopefully correctly)

Update: Well two days later the the feature request has already been assigned and is planned to be included in V11.3. I have to say I'm impressed - I reported a bank software fault to Barclays four years ago and it's yet to be fixed. Big Kudos for the development team!
