latest 9.3 stuck at "generating host.conf", won't boot

Hi

I just ran into a major problem with our productive 9.3 FreeNAS box (latest update). I powered it off to add 2 new SSDs, however after getting it back on it is stuck during boot at "generating host.conf". It then resets after a while (i think it's the watchdog).
I removed the SSDs to get back to the original state but the box won't boot either :(

When i select the "default install" as the boot environment, the box boots

What can i do now? :(

It is FreeNAS-9.3-STABLE-201502110455
I recovered my DC from the backup and started it. After that when i rebooted FreeNAS it worked.
I already opened a bug report https://bugs.freenas.org/issues/8013 and i was asked to report some debug output once the system hangs (ctrl+T). I still have to test this, as the server is a productive fileserver.
