Hello all,

I built my FreeNAS system not long ago and after a while I activated the e-mail notification.

On daily basis I get the following message sent via the e-mail notification:

Code:
MW-FreeNAS.MW-NET kernel log messages:
> pid 32431 (pkg), uid 0: exited on signal 10 (core dumped)

-- End of security output --

Anyone got an idea what I could check out to gather any more information?

Did you shut the system down at midnight or did it reboot itself? If it wasn't you, any tasks running at that time?

No, no shutdown and no automatic reboot. The system is up for several days.
I checked the tasks - but nothing that is configured to run each day at this time.

Just to put everything on the table: I also have another problem:
https://www.ixsystems.com/community/threads/boot-pool-degraded-even-after-replacement.79653

Each night at 3:00 AM I get two mails:
- a mail about the DEGRADED boot pool(daily run output).
- a mail "daily security run output" with the same message, just with another process Id:

> pid 17381 (pkg), uid 0: exited on signal 10 (core dumped)
..
> pid 76078 (pkg), uid 0: exited on signal 10 (core dumped)
..
> pid 35018 (pkg), uid 0: exited on signal 10 (core dumped)

I am doing ok with Linux, but I am really new to FreeBSD....
So I am not even really aware of what "pkg" is doing. It seems to be a package manager, but I have no Idea what this could mean.
Is there something like a automatic check for SW updates maybe?

It's likely related to your degraded boot pool. That needs to be addressed. Save a copy of your configuration, disable trim on your boot drive and reinstall FreeNAS and re upload your saved config. The trim bug is a known problem with the WD green SSD's.

Hi @Jailer - I took your advice and first tried to solve this problem.
It worked! I replaced the SSD with a SuperMicro SuperDOM: https://www.ixsystems.com/community...ded-even-after-replacement.79653/#post-554696

Now everything seems to be fine!
